Copy the exact Facebook Share link
Open the Reel, Watch episode, or timeline video first, then choose Share and Copy link. This produces a specific facebook.com or fb.watch address that identifies one public media item. A page profile, a comment thread, and a copied caption do not reliably point to the actual file.
If Facebook opens an in-app browser, use the Share control inside the video player rather than its address bar. That gives an FB video downloader online the best chance to recognize the item and lets you verify the title before saving.
Download public Facebook Reels responsibly
Facebook Reels are short vertical videos, often shared through a standard player link. A public Reel may offer an MP4 when the platform exposes one. Copy the Reel's own link; do not use a remix, sound page, profile, or a forwarded text snippet as a substitute.

Start by checking the URL in a private browser window. If it will not play while signed out, it is private, removed, region-limited, or otherwise unavailable. Copy a fresh link from Share, not from a page or a search result, and retry after confirming the exact video.
